An effort to increase the number of positions in leadership held by diverse populations in the Greater Portland region, the Diversity in Leadership initiative is a signature project of Greater Portland 2020.

From 1980-2010, people of color went from 7.7 percent to 23.7 percent of the population. By 2040, people of color will represent nearly 42% of the region’s population. Jobs of the future require higher levels of skills and education. By 2020, 44 percent of jobs will require at least a AA degree or higher. Skilled talent is moving to our region, attracted by quality of life and economic opportunities.
